At Chaoss, we understand the immense challenges families face, especially those dealing with domestic violence, health struggles, and housing issues. Our free 1:1 family support service is designed to provide the help, emotional support, and practical guidance families need during their most difficult times. One of our community members recently shared her inspiring story of how our service has made a difference in her life, and we wanted to share it with you.

A Heartfelt Testimony from One of Our Families

One brave mother, who fled domestic violence with her young children, recently accessed our 1:1 family support service. After experiencing countless struggles, including the aftermath of an abusive relationship and ongoing issues with housing, she turned to Chaoss for guidance. Thanks to our dedicated family liaison officer Polly, she’s feeling more hopeful and supported than ever.

Here’s what she shared about her experience:

“Had my consultation with the lovely Polly earlier and already she has got back to me with so much info and help. The lady really is amazing and so helpful. Having fled DV with a 6-month-old and my second eldest, then 8, was hard. For my youngest to be diagnosed with PTSD due to the DV, her dad not interested yet stalking and harassing us. Then moved into a 2-bed house that I have spent a fortune doing up out of my own pocket, for it to be riddled with damp, mould and rising damp, I have given up decorating. The house is freezing, boiler forever losing pressure. We are all forever poorly as I have asthma and endometriosis, amongst other things. The house just makes us ill and mentally unable to cope.

I am awaiting an operation and dreading it as being a single mum is hard enough but having to come back to a freezing house that makes us ill is going to be harder.

When you feel like giving up on the housing department and just coping as is and this little angel pops up and makes you feel like you still have some fight left in you.

Awaiting Marlea’s ASD and ADHD assessments is another to add to the list, but the fight is not over, and I feel I’m on the right path, especially after speaking with Polly.

I really appreciate the help she has given me so far and I can’t thank this group for giving me the chance to speak to her.

This group is a huge help in more ways than people seem to think and I’m glad I stumbled on it.

Thank you to all 💜”
